I totally emailed you about my grade like seven million days ago, and heard nothing back! How sad.
And also.............
can we write on our poems to annotate them or do we have to fit typed notes onto the sides of them?

spring break assignment
soooo...
Mrs. Moon I am having the hardest time with the style portion of the write up because the poems i chose dont fit the forms that we learned and when i try looking them up nothing comes up. I was wondering if it was okay to just state the number of stanzas and lines as wellas rhyme scheme for that section.

Alright, if you care about College Basketball, which probably most of you don't because....you all are girls, you will like this new exclusive video about Hitler finding out about KU losing to Northern Iowa. Mrs. Moon, you should show this to hubby.

I'm sick :(
Sorry I wasn't in class today, I know you all missed me, but I have strep. I should be fine to come to school tomorrow, but I'll come see you before school to see if there's anything I can get to make up.
Reminder
Don't forget that your AP money is due tomorrow if you are planning on taking any AP exams.
Of course, I assume that you all will be taking the Lit exam. Why would you put yourself through such torture if you weren't planning on taking the exam? It's like Drivers Ed--you take the class then take the test and get your license. You wouldn't take Drivers Ed then not take the driving test...would you?
See you tomorrow for your Historical Allusions quiz.

On "Beloved"....
WHAT IN THE NAME OF HARRY'S WAND IS GOING ON? I THOUGHT "METAMORPHOSIS" WAS THE WORST/WEIRDEST BOOK EVER, BUT "BELOVED" JUST HIT A HOME RUN WITH TONIGHT'S READING, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN.

Oh yeah...
I forgot to tell you all, but tomorrow is my first taping of my very own show for NHCS-TV! I should be back by 2nd block, but there is a teacher on stand-by just in case I'm late. If I am late, just review your historical allusions or read. Ok?
And wear something green!
And wear something green!
Tomorrow and other things of interest
I forgot to tell you today: WEAR GREEN TOMORROW! It's St. Patrick's Day and I want to take a class picture with everyone in green. So, wear something green so you can be in the picture.
Next, since no one made above a B on today's Beloved quiz, I am giving you an opportunity to bring up your grade. If you want to recover half of the points you lost, you can make me a 10 question quiz based on Part I of Beloved. However, the questions must be level 1 or 2 and nothing outright stupid. Give it to me at the beginning of class tomorrow for credit.
See you tomorrow in GREEN!

Mrs Moon, Did you ever decide aout post poning our book reports?
Also I had originally planned to take the timed write tomorrow when I get out of school, However I remembered that I have two Quizes in one of my other classes that Have to be made up by tomorrow. Would it be a problem if I made it up on tuesday at the same time? IF so I can ask my flex teacher if I could possibly make up the quizes on Tuesday. Let me know! THANKS

when baby suggs was talking to Paul D
about his tin heart way of dealing with life and love and feelings.
all i heard was Cher's song
you know the one.
"do youu believe in life aftah love, aftah lave, aftah love, aftah love. I can feel something inside me say
I really don't think you're strong enough,
No."

Tomorrow & stuff
Timed write tomorrow. The poem is a bit easier to get, so I think you all will do much better!
Read Beloved tonight. There isn't that much to read and it is very disappointing that some people are not reading or even trying to get what is going on. This is actually a pretty good book (way better than The Awakening) and you can use it on soooooo many AP prompts that you will want to read it and understand it.
I would love to have another quiz tomorrow to see if you have read. I may make it totally reading comprehension questions. (Oh--and I'll look at Spark Notes to be sure of what NOT to ask).
We will be spending the rest of class after the timed write focusing on Beloved. Read so that you can add to the class and get involved!

Don't forget
Post your Biblical Allusions tonight!
Read chapters 1-2 of Beloved. (S0, that is through page 34).
FYI--In the first line, 124 is mentioned as being spiteful. 124 is the house address, so they are saying that the house is personified as being spiteful.
There is a baby ghost haunting the house.
Pay attention to the names on page 13.
There is a lot of switching back and forth between past and present, so don't get confused.
Pay attention to the relationship between Sethe and Paul D. How do they know each other? What does he do for her? How does Denver feel?
You may get a bit confused...but don't let that get you down. Keep reading and just TRY! I don't want to hear any complaining.
Get off Spark Notes! Read and think for yourself!

Mrs. Moon!
Did you know the new movie is totally based of the poem we read when you gave it to us!?!?!
It was really awesome!

Good job!
Good job today with your MC and timed write! Just think...in 2 months you will be taking the real exam with 55 multiple choice questions and THREE ESSAYS! Today's practice was just a drop in the bucket!
So, for this weekend, read the article about the slaves and be prepared to discuss! Don't just glance at it--read it, annotate it, etc!
Come in ready to share your octave!
Have a wonderful weekend! We are one week closer to Spring Break!

Jam and other ramblings
Thanks for my picture of jam, Andrew. I didn't even see it until just now! Wait until you see the additions to your other picture...
So, no allusions quiz tomorrow! How about if we take it on Monday? We will also be starting Beloved next week. We will read it until Spring Break, then you will read Hedda Gabler over Spring Break.
Nothing to study tonight--just repeat a personal, positive mantra as you fall asleep. It will help you on your exam practice tomorrow! Repeat something positive and specific and your subconscious will adapt to it!
Bring your book so you can read after the exam tomorrow.
Have a great night!

TERRIFYING JABBAWOCKY!!!
I just found another, SCARY video of a Jabbawocky. You have to fast forward the video though to about 3:20; you can watch the whole thing if you want, but it takes a while
So, for tomorrow...
1. Have your study material for your allusions
2. Complete your "Jabberwocky" homework. Don't look on the Internet! (Julian--you don't have to complete the writing of the multiple choice questions. We decided that after you left).
3. Bring your book again tomorrow.
Since we never voted, we will be doing our timed write on Friday. Actually, we're doing one multiple choice section and one timed write. You will have 55 minutes to complete both...
