Hi everyone!! Merry Christmas Eve and Merry Christmas (tomorrow)!!

Hope everyone is happy and having a wonderful holiday! I've been to the in-laws house for yummy lunch (I made a vegetarian strudel) and now I am visiting with my mom and brother.

Tonight we will be spending the night at the Moons and opening gifts with Hunter's little nephew in the morning. He is 5 and believes in Santa, so that will be really cute. Then we will go to my mom's and open presents with my little niece. She's 2 and is just getting into the Santa thing. We eat bagels with lox and cream cheese, look in our stockings, then open all our gifts really SLOWLY and everyone watches. Can't wait!

It's been a long day of jury dutying. I'm going to cuddle up with my latest edition of Vegetarian Times (it just arrived today like a little ray of light) and hit the hay soon.

See you tomorrow BEFORE 8:30. Seriously, let's not have any repeats of the portfolio check day. You cannot print in my room! You cannot be working on your product when the 8:30 bell rings (which we all know has been ringing early). You must have everything ready to hand in or you can just keep it and it's a day late.

I mean, I know it's unlikely, but what if he saw all the stuff that's been posted?
He's like an ex-scientist, I'm sure he could figure out how to find a blog if he really wanted to.
Again, I'm sure he'll never see any of your uncalled for remarks, but still-this is cyber bullying. And this kind of stuff is what leads children, and I'm sure also, adults, into bouts of depression and other social disorders. From these they can deal with life long trauma that can also lead them to do really bad things in order to seek revenge, make themselves feel better, and so on. Even though you're joking, some people may not see it that way. Please think twice before you say something about someone, even if it is behind their back.

Like I said, I followed Mrs. Moon's instructions to the word today. Even the punctuation. Like commas and semicolons. FOr our resume, what is the objective title? the sheet says to pick one, but iIam a little confused as to what specifically to put. Like Graduation Project? And do we need to write in complete sentences

I have jury duty!!

Ugh! So I just called the juror "hot line" and I do have to report for jury duty tomorrow! This means:

1. No mentor log check tomorrow. I'll check it on Tuesday.

2. I won't see you the day before products are due! You'll have to ask each other or ask me questions via the blog. I think you all will be fine, though. Just look at the sheet I gave you.

Tomorrow you will be:

1. Going over your new vocabulary list. Choose a word for your etymology and to write a sentence on the board.

2. Watching a video on Shakespeare. It is actually pretty good! There is a work sheet that goes with it. It contains a lot of info, so pay attention!

3. Working on a Shakespearean phrase "fun" assignment. Details will be given by the sub.

If you get all this done, you really should work on your Portfolios! So, bring them to class tomorrow so that you can stuff them!

Hey Mrs. Moon,
I hope that you had a great holiday. I would say that I hope you are full of turkey, but knowing you are a dedicated vegitarian makes me refrain.

I wanted to see what we have due this week. I am in the process of planning everything out trying to avoid procrastination. My product is going to be tuesday, which is going to be a crazy day for me, but I wanted to go ahead and get the due dates for everything.

Also I wanted to check about the amount of time I am going to spend grocery shopping for my product. I know that the amount allotted for most people is 30 minutes. However I feel as though I will need at least two hours. To gather up all of my ingredients and decoration needs in a store that I am unfamiliar with( FOr the first time this weekend I went to Fresh Market... I know..... can you believe it? It was like and early Christmas for me), that amount of time is minimum. However, I did not want to put it on my product log and then have points deducted for insufficient time. Let me know!

While I am sure we all greatly appreciate ALL of the work you are giving us--- and I do mean ALLLL ( Seriously, I dont even know if you are aware of how much there is to do) I am sure that none of us would object if you wanted to move back the date, to say MONDAY, for one or more of our assignments. Shadowing my Chemotherapy Patient

WOW! That was one of the most difficult experiences I have ever had. She was so brave and open about her breast cancer I feel like i went through it with her. She is one of the strongest women I have ever met and I am really grateful for her to allow me to sit with her through her cycle and let me pick her brain for information.

Im really glad i decided to do this for part of my product, it gave me a hands on experience around the same people who will be recieving my hair donation.

Im soooooo ready to cut my hair now!

Ever since class today, you have me very worried. There is no way that I can only look at my notecards three times tomorrow. I need them to make sure that I stay on track. However, I am worried that it will be a significant amount of points off if I use them as a guide like last time. How many points will be off??? All i have to say is that Obama cant make a speech without a teleprompter, so we should be able to use our notecards if it too looks presentable........ NO DIG intended. Im just simply stating that, like Obama, who has much more public speaking background, ( or does he), I need the guidance of my notecards.... and only three glances could be detrimental for my speech...........

unfortunatly i wasnt able to meet with any of the doctors an the oncology unit but i have a meeting set up for tomorrow morning with a nurse in oncology. Interview

Mrs. Moon, I have been calling around to see about who I can interview for out Graduation Project. I called Tidal Creek and the person who I talked to was not very helpful, or pleasant for that matter. She told me to call back on tuesday, but I worry that , that is too late. I am searching around for other sources but am having a little trouble as where to start. Any suggestions? I also wanted to ask a question. Over the summer I participated in an internship in Costa Rica and got the opprotunity to meet a lady who live in Virginia who is a nutrionist. If i am still not having luck with interviewing someone in Wilmington, is it at all possible to have an "over the phone" interview? I know that she would be more than willing to talk with me, the distance is the only thing that would get in the way. Please let me know!

We decided that I should focus more on specific health concerns... like heart, or lung, or digestion etc... and that I should try to find more sources on those topics. I have seached for Wilmington Cancer Centers and all that will come up is the one located at New Hanover Hospital and i found a doctor there that could be potentially a good mentor but the only contact information he has is a voice recorded phone number that doesnt have the option to leave a message with him! To Mrs Moon (regarding college essays)

with the amount of corrections you made in my paper, and the explanations and words that come along with efficiently making those corrections, i find my paper stretching over the limit of 500, and almost impossible to edit and cut down without missing the whole idea i am trying to convey, or to comfortably have a paper that shows corrections to all the points you have made.
so i ask you to take that into consideration when grading my paper, and i would like alert you that such essays that have such a small frame, not only limit creativity, but efficiency.

College Essay/ senior project

Hey Mrs. Moon.
I have rewritten my college essay according to the advice that we talked about, however I wanted to make sure that it was what we were discussing and that I followed your suggestions. I was wondering if you could re look over it tomorrow in class or via e-mail. I will probably check this before school tomorrow so let me know!

Secondly, i have been doing my note cards for senior project and am finding basic information which is going to give me a good start. But I wanted to see if you had any other sites or suggestions for more in depth information. I actually went on to the site that the Librarians gave us ( yes, i actually paid attention) but the sources that they gave me did not really seem to benefit much. I don't know, maybe i am doing it wrong....

So, class ended kind of quickly on Friday, so here is your reminder for Monday:
1. bring all your supplies
2. we will be writing in our calendars
3. have your AP prompt questions answered for The Stranger
4. Have some sort of draft of your letter of intent

Official rough draft of your letter of intent is due on Tuesday. Final letter of intent is due on Thursday.

Assingment #1--Introduce Yourself

For your first assignment, you need to introduce yourself to the class. I know that many of you know each other, but I only know a few of you, and it never hurts to get to know your classmates better!

So, respond to this post with a little bit of info about yourself. You can tell us about your college plans, an interesting talent you possess, your pets, extracurricular activities, etc. Whatever you want!

Remember, no "text speak," use correct grammar, and no negative comments!

Here are a few things about me:
1. I was born near Chicago, IL and moved to NC when I was in the 8th grade.
2. My favorite book is Siddhartha. I have read it probably 10 times!
3. I have a 2 year old niece named Lila Grace.
