no, i really am. i just changed into the English school today. my original major wasn't something that made me happy. and i would love to be an awesome teacher like you, Mr. Taper, or Ms. Jones that inspires kids, and opens the world of literature and language up to them.
and yes. i love it so much! :)
I've been to almost all of the home games, they are awesome. major disappointment sometimes though.
p.s. I've heard wonderful things about your husband's teaching, i have just never had him.
also, any advice you can give about the journey that took you to where you are now, or certain undergrad studies, would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure if i should study English intensive, or towards secondary education. Pros and Cons of M Ed.? I'm probably going to go for it, because i go hard.
If you are going to be a teacher, you absolutely need to go into secondary education. (I did the English Literature major thing and paid A LOT of money after I graduated to get my teacher license). You can go into teaching via lateral entry (no education degree) but in today's world, it is VERY hard to get a job that way or you will end up teaching in a low-income school).
M.Ed is great! I got mine 75% for the knowledge/bragging rights and 25% for the pay raise.
Can you go for a M.A.T? (Master's of the Arts in Teaching). Ms. McCarthy got hers that way. I'm not sure of the exact difference, but it's an option.
I'm so excited for you! You will make an awesome teacher! It's such a great profession. Seriously, it's great!
yup. im in the program now, under the secondary ed. track, i couldnt be happier or more excited. im definitely doing the M.Ed, haha almost for the same reason as you. Im now sure about the MAT either... but yeah. anytime Shakespeare or Camus is mentioned, i think of our class. haha, good times. hope you have a wonderful christmas.
