I am really glad that we had such a small class this year. It's quite rare for a teacher to get to have a class of 9 students, and while at first, it seems a little daunting (no large class discussions! no big group projects!) I am thankful that each and every one of you were in the class! I really feel like I got to get to know each of you, and that you got to know me as well! Sometimes, with big classes, some students get pushed to the side or just slide by. Well, with a class of 9 that just can't happen.
So, now that the year is over and I'm doing a little reflecting (and cringing about having a class of 40 for next year), I realized that you guys are one of my favorite classes I've ever taught and will remember it fondly. I'm lucky to have had a class of 9 bright, funny, hard-working seniors and I'll really miss you all next year!
Some of my favorite memories:
- Julian's random stretching
- Andrew changing my quotes/word of the day
- Brittany's constant texting
- Kathryn's letter to Julian
- Sarah cutting off her hair
- Taylor's crazy blue tu-tu
- Lauren's excitedness (is that even a word?) during our Socratic Seminar
- All of our parties
- All the laughter
- Our off topic discussions (that Andrew and Julian loved)
- Our poetry month ordeal (a suicide pact?!? What?!?)
- How proud of you all I was while you were taking your AP Exam
- And many, many more...
I can't wait to see all of you graduate and walk across the stage! I will feel like a proud mom (except I don't have to pay for your college and get to keep all my shoes).
Keep in touch over the blog. I know that things get crazy, but let me know how school is going once you start in August!

Mrs Moon-- I just loved your class. And everybody in it! THanks for the love and encouragement. I seriously considered A.P. Lit the best class of the year
Yay!! (Don't listen to Kathryn's lies) I meant what I said.....can't you hear the sarcasm in her voice?!
Mrs. Moon, you are one of my THE BEST teachers i have ever had no matter what the Wrightsville Beach Magazine says :) .. you and Ms. McCarthy! and I'm completely saying that with all of my heart and not because yall pointed it out.
I loved our class as well and your post made me laugh and reflect (Andrew's favorite tone word it seemed)
and remember how I felt entering that small class with a teacher with a reputation for being strict and tough... ha! -I KNOW RIGHT..uhh NO. You sooo were not tough at all and never gave us a lot of work or challenged us by giving us 3s or 4s on our papers in the beginning of our AP stuff.
hehe just kidding, but in all seriousness you were the perfect balance of a teacher and I think I love English and love life more because of you. Thanks Mrs. Moon and I will miss you too much ..so I WILLLL LLlLLLLL be visiting fo sho
