Writing your rough draft

Hi my stressed-out seniors!

I know that today was quick! But remember, for your rough draft, just start by transposing your note cards into complete sentences. Then, after each card, document! It really is that easy!

Yes, it will sound choppy!
No, you won't like the way it sounds!
No, don't give up!
Yes, you will have plenty of time to fix it!

Come in tomorrow with what you have. Try for 2 pages (if you are including your introduction, then you really don't have much to do at all!) .

OK--we have a lot going on! Here's a run-down:

1. Introduction due tomorrow. (Don't stress if it's not perfect--just get something down on paper. Include an attention grabber and your thesis).

2. 10 interview questions due Wednesday. Remember, no "yes/no" questions and focus on the lacuna's of your research. (Yes! AP word!)

3. Meet with your advisor.

4. Find a mentor by Friday!

5. 2 pages due Thursday. (Again, don't stress. We will spend time in class working on this!)

6. Frankenstein chapters 11-15.

I know that this is a lot to do. Just do a little bit everyday and you won't get behind. Ask for my help if you need it--that's what I am here for! I can't read your mind, so let me know what's going on.

Again, I am unsure if you will get this before class..... although I am secretly hoping.... But i have a favor/question to ask of you.

As we both discovered today, I am lacking information on the A part of my outline for part I of my paper. We decided that I should focus more on specific health concerns... like heart, or lung, or digestion etc... and that I should try to find more sources on those topics. Well I am having trouble locating some. I am not sure if it is because I am typing in the wrong topic or key word, but I was going to see if you could help me. ( At your convenience of course...)

For Friday 9/25

Whew! We did a lot today and we will have a jam-packed class tomorrow! Here's what we have going on:

1. Finish grammar parts of speech with adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections.

2. Frankenstein quiz on chapters 6-10.

Here is a question for my special blog readers: You will be asked for specific Biblical references. Note them!

3. Frankenstein study guide due. One of the questions has a typo. Number 17 should read, "Paraphrase Elizabeth's thoughts on humanity...". So change that!

4. Bring your 50 note cards and your re-written outline and thesis statement. We will have time in class to look at and re-work your outline. This will be the time for you to ask questions, get on my computer, etc.

Find a mentor! Stop procrastinating!

Ahhhh Mrs. Moon I dont know what to do! I have seached for Wilmington Cancer Centers and all that will come up is the one located at New Hanover Hospital and i found a doctor there that could be potentially a good mentor but the only contact information he has is a voice recorded phone number that doesnt have the option to leave a message with him! I cant find a mentor and its due soon. Also the interview is coming up and if i dont have a mentor to help me find another doctor im skrewed!

Please help! Im sinking here I dont know what any of my other options are

To Mrs Moon (regarding college essays)

with the amount of corrections you made in my paper, and the explanations and words that come along with efficiently making those corrections, i find my paper stretching over the limit of 500, and almost impossible to edit and cut down without missing the whole idea i am trying to convey, or to comfortably have a paper that shows corrections to all the points you have made.
so i ask you to take that into consideration when grading my paper, and i would like alert you that such essays that have such a small frame, not only limit creativity, but efficiency.

College Essay/ senior project

Hey Mrs. Moon.
I have rewritten my college essay according to the advice that we talked about, however I wanted to make sure that it was what we were discussing and that I followed your suggestions. I was wondering if you could re look over it tomorrow in class or via e-mail. I will probably check this before school tomorrow so let me know!

Secondly, i have been doing my note cards for senior project and am finding basic information which is going to give me a good start. But I wanted to see if you had any other sites or suggestions for more in depth information. I actually went on to the site that the Librarians gave us ( yes, i actually paid attention) but the sources that they gave me did not really seem to benefit much. I don't know, maybe i am doing it wrong....
Anyways, if you had any suggestions, they would be greatly accepted.
