Nice seein' ya!

It was so nice seeing you the other day! I'm so happy that you all are doing well. I'm so proud.

One thing that I forgot to ask you guys (because I was too busy listening to all of your awesome college stories) is:

In what area did you feel unprepared on the AP Lit exam?

In other words, what can/should I focus on more (or at all) to prepare my students this year for the Exam? Be honest. Seriously. (But don't even mention omitting The Awakening or Beloved).

Let me know...

Away you go

Are you at school yet? I know that UNCW's classes start soon, so I got to thinking about you all and that you will officially be college students so soon!

So, if I could go back and give my college freshman self some advice from my 30 year old self, here's what I would say:

1. Don't skip class. Ever. College is really expensive. You're paying for education, not sleeping.

2. All nighters (drinking, studying, eating, whatever) are WAY overrated.

3. Get involved in more campus activities. You'll meet a wider variety of people and will have fun experiences.

4. Study abroad. Just for a semester. You will be fine.

5. Ditch the people who are negative influences on you.

6. Call mom and dad more. They worry.

7. Take more classes outside of you major. Anti-social behavior and its consequences sounds pretty interesting!

8. Friends are people who care about you and respect your decisions. Find them. Lose others.

9. Volunteer in your local community.

10. Be yourself but be willing to know that change can be a good thing.

GOOD LUCK!! Come back and visit me when you are on break and you can make fun of my new AP kids reading The Awakening! :)

If you (for some sadistic reason) want to keep up with my AP class for this year, the blog is

A little lit humor...

So I came across these videos Mrs. Moon, and they made me laugh. I wasn't sure if they were appropriate for the blog, since there's a cuss word, but Julian said you'd think it was funny. So, Sassy Gay Friend: Hamlet is good, and there's also Othello, Romeo and Juliet, and Eve. I hope they make more. But yeah-hope you find them as funny as we did.

I hope you're having a good summer!

I have your scores!!

Woo hoo! I have your AP scores!

The good news: I don't have to get any tattoos! And that the scores are pretty darn good! Many 4's! Way to go!

The bad news: None! (Well, some of you may not be that happy, but no one got a 1).

Hope you are all well! Miss you!
